Pledge Class Spring 2012

What is Pledging like?

After submitting your application materials, you will be contacted for a formal interview with active AKPsi members. Following this interview, you will be notified of your invitation to Induction, the official ceremony that begins each semester long pledge process. Here you will meet the rest of your pledge class and be officially welcomed by the Alpha Nu chapter.

The weekly Pledge Class Meetings are held on Wednesday at 6pm. Meetings are mandatory and professional dress is required. You must have Wednesday evenings available to pledge. The length of these meetings is determined by the efficiency of your pledge class, but active chapter meetings generally last 90-120 minutes. As a pledge, you will be required to wear your pledge pin and complete 45 interviews with active members during the course of the semester. There will be a small quiz given at each meeting on the history of the fraternity as preparation for the final exam at the end of the semester. Study guides for each quiz will be provided in your pledge book.

AKPsi's pledge process is intense, challenging and entirely worth the effort. During the semester you will learn an exceptional amount about the fraternity, its members, and most of all, yourself, as you are immersed in brotherhood, professionalism, and hard work.

What Spring 2012's pledge class has to say about the pledging process:

"Pledging is like a box of chocolates, it doesn't last long enough for many people." - Adam C.

"People think pledging is crazy. Only those who have actually pledged know the true value in the challenge." - Allie R.

"Throughout the pledge process you should never give up and continuously push yourself to reach your full potential." - Mike V.

"Pledging, for lack of a better word, is good. Pledging is right, pledging works. Pledging clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit." - Conor W.

"During pledging you must push yourself to improve to overcome all obstacles, but at the end you will know it was worth it because you see how much you've gained." Kent L.

"Pledging is like boot camp for professional development." - Kiley G.

"Pledging is kind of like the Hunger Games, the difference being that instead of trying to eliminate other people from the game you are trying to keep them in the game." - Holden K.

"Pledging is the fast track to best friendship. It's doing things you've never expected from yourself from yourself and it's experiencing something where everything is worth everything you put in." Alex R.
